My Journey into Soul Food with Love
At just six years old, I remember helping my great-grandmother in the kitchen, cutting up green peppers for the very first time. That simple moment sparked something in me—a love for cooking that’s only grown stronger over the years. I was lucky to be surrounded by the incredible women in my life—my mother, aunt, and grandmother—who filled our home with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals and the warmth of family.
Cooking was always in the air. The scent of fried chicken sizzling in the pan, collard greens simmering on the stove, mac and cheese baking to golden perfection, and fresh cornbread rising in the oven—those memories are etched into my soul. In our home, food wasn’t just food. It was love. It was care. It was connection.
In May 2010, I catered my first event—my own baby shower. Then came my daughter’s first birthday. I still remember someone calling out, “Who made this baked mac and cheese?” I proudly raised my hand. Their response? “This mac and cheese is SO GOOD!” In that moment, I knew I had something special. My food carries the touch of love.
Cooking for others is how I share a piece of my soul. It’s not just about preparing a meal—it’s about creating an experience filled with heart, heritage, and joy.
I’d be honored to bring that same love to your next event.
